Straw Tower
What we were supposed to do
What we were supposed to do was to create a tower out of straws with a partner, but we weren't allowed to verbally communicate with them and we had a limited amount of tape to use. We had a time limit of one hour and we were supposed to try to make the tallest tower in the room. This challenge wasn't that hard because we just weren't allowed to talk to each other and we could write down stuff on a sheet of paper and show each other that, the hard part was thinking of a design for the tower and managing tape use.
At first, me and and my partner tried to make a plan for the tower, and we wanted to start with a square base, but we decided to have a triangle base after a while. It was fairly easy to do at first, but then we started to use too much tape, and we tried to use less tape on our tower, but that made the tower unstable and tilted. We tried to have extra straws hold up the tower at the base, and it worked a bit, but not that much. The first picture shows how the tower looked before we left for lunch, and at this point was when the tower was the tallest.
After we came back from lunch, our tower was on its side and it wasn't able to stand up like how it did before, so we kept it on it's side because that was the only way that it would stand. We tried to continue to build up with what we had, but it was very unstable and kept falling apart. We were also running out of time, so we somewhat gave up and the second picture on the right is what it looked like. After a while of not really doing much, we tried to at least try to make it a little bit taller, and the picture below was the final product of our tower.
