The Origin of YouTubeYouTube was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who were former employees of PayPal, in 2005. The idea for the video sharing platform came to them when Chen had a get-together at his new home. Together, they were making videos and then they realized that they had no way to share the videos. Because of eBay's $1.54 billion purchase of PayPal in 2002, they both had a lot of money and decided to create their own website to share videos on.
If PayPal wasn't either successful or didn't exist, YouTube probably wouldn't exist because all three of the creators of YouTube were PayPal employees and got the money for YouTube from their job there. |
